From Neo-Latin glagoliticus < Serbo-Croatian glagoljica/глаго�и�а < Old Church Slavonic|OCS глагол|глагол� ("word" or "sound").

Glagolitic alphabet

  1. An alphabet designed in the ninth century CE by Saint Cyril in order to translate the Bible and other texts into Old Church Slavonic. It was later replaced by the Cyrillic alphabet. It is still in use in the Croatian Church along the Dalmatian coast.
